Overview
DreamNest AI: Bedtime Stories ("DreamNest," "we," "us," or "our") is an app for parents that creates calming, emotion-based bedtime stories for children. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the app, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
DreamNest is designed for use by parents and guardians on behalf of their children. Children do not create accounts, sign in, or interact with the app's settings directly — a parent sets up each child's profile and manages the app.
Information we collect
Account information
If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google Sign-In. If you use the app as a guest, no account information is collected — we generate an anonymous session instead.
Child profile information
Information you enter for each child profile, provided voluntarily by the parent:
- Child's first name and age
- Favorite story theme
- Gender (optional)
- Sleep difficulty notes (optional)
Story & usage data
- The emotion or topic selected for each story (e.g. fear of dark, sharing, confidence)
- Generated story text, title, and moral
- Story language and, if applicable, religion/faith preference you opt into
- Favorited and recently read stories
- Number of stories generated, used to apply free-tier weekly limits
Device information
We use a device identifier (Android's Settings.Secure.ANDROID_ID, or a
locally generated identifier as a fallback) to track free-tier story limits for guest
users before they create an account. This identifier does not contain personal
information and is not used for advertising.
Purchase information
If you subscribe to DreamNest Premium, our payment provider (RevenueCat) and Google Play process your purchase. We receive subscription status, product identifier, and expiration date — never your payment card details, which are handled entirely by Google Play.
How we use information
- To generate personalized bedtime stories tailored to your child's context and emotional needs
- To narrate stories aloud using on-device text-to-speech in the story's language
- To save favorites and reading history so stories are available across sessions and devices
- To sync your data when you sign in with Google, or convert from a guest account
- To apply free-tier usage limits and manage Premium subscription entitlements
- To maintain and improve the safety, reliability, and performance of the app
We do not sell your data or your child's data. We do not use child profile information for advertising, and we do not build advertising profiles from story content.
Third-party services
We work with a small number of trusted service providers, each acting under contract and only for the purpose described:

Story generation requests never call AI providers directly from your device — they are routed through our server-side functions, which strip unnecessary identifying details before sending the request.
Children's privacy
DreamNest is intended to be operated by a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children, and children cannot create their own accounts, change settings, or make purchases within the app.
Child profile information (name, age, preferences) is entered voluntarily by the parent and is used solely to personalize story content. Parents can edit or delete a child's profile, and all associated stories, at any time from within the app.
If you believe a child has provided us with personal information outside of a parent-managed profile, please contact us so we can remove it.
Subscriptions & payments
DreamNest offers a free tier (5 stories per week, 1 child profile) and a Premium subscription (unlimited stories, multiple children) billed monthly, yearly, or as a one-time purchase. All payments are processed by Google Play — DreamNest never sees or stores your payment card details.
Subscription status is verified server-side through RevenueCat and Google Play. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time from the Google Play Store's subscriptions page.
Data retention
- Account, child profile, and story data are retained until you delete them or delete your account
- Purchase verification records are automatically pruned after 90 days
- Guest usage data is tied to your device and cleared if you uninstall the app or clear app data

Data security
- All data is transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) connections
- Database access is protected by row-level security policies scoped to your account
- Sensitive operations (story generation, subscription writes) are only permitted through authenticated server-side functions, never directly from the app
- We never hardcode or expose API credentials in the app itself
While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your rights & choices
- Access & correction — edit your child's profile, preferences, and account details directly in the app
- Deletion — request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us
- Portability — request an export of your stored data
- Withdraw consent — sign out or delete your account at any time; guest data can be cleared by uninstalling the app
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA/CPRA. To exercise any of these rights, contact us and we will respond within a reasonable timeframe.
Guest mode & device identifiers
DreamNest lets you try the app without creating an account. In guest mode, your stories and profile are stored locally on your device and linked to an anonymous session. If you later sign in with Google, your local data is automatically carried over to your new account.
We use a device identifier only to apply weekly story limits fairly for guest users. This identifier is not shared with advertisers and is not used to track you across other apps or websites.
International data transfers
Your information may be processed and stored on servers located outside your country of residence, including in jurisdictions where our service providers operate. We rely on appropriate contractual and technical safeguards to protect your information wherever it is processed.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. We will update the "Effective" date at the top of this page, and if changes are material, we will provide additional notice within the app.
