How to Prepare for the Canadian Citizenship Test

The best way to prepare for the Canadian citizenship test is to study the official guide, Discover Canada, and practise with mock tests until you pass comfortably.
The format
- 20 questions, multiple choice and true or false
- 45 minutes
- You need 15 correct answers to pass
- Usually taken online after IRCC invites you
What to study
Discover Canada covers Canada's history, geography, economy, government, laws and symbols. Pay special attention to:
- How government works: the Prime Minister, Governor General and Members of Parliament
- Rights and responsibilities of citizens
- Facts about your own province or territory
A simple plan
- Read one chapter of Discover Canada each day
- Practise questions on that chapter
- Take full mock tests and aim for 17 or more out of 20
