Australian Citizenship Test: Why the Values Questions Matter

In the Australian citizenship test, scoring 75% isn't enough on its own. You must also answer all five Australian values questions correctly.

The format

• 20 multiple-choice questions
• 45 minutes
• You need 75% overall
• And every one of the 5 values questions must be correct

What the values questions cover

They're based on the values section of the official resource, Australian Citizenship: Our Common Bond. They cover ideas like freedom, equality, respect and the rule of law.

How to prepare

• Read the values chapter until you know it well
• Practise values questions separately, not just as part of mock tests
• Learn the three levels of government and what each one does
• Take full mock tests until you pass with room to spare
